What is Usui Reiki healing?
I have written a brief explanation below on "What is Reiki?". In truth I feel the only way to understand how Reiki can help you is to experience it. Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese form of healing developed in the early part of the twentieth century that has become popular worldwide. It involves the transfer of energy from practitioner to patient to enhance the body’s natural ability to heal itself through the balancing of energy.
Reiki uses specific techniques for restoring and balancing the natural life force energy within the body. Reiki therapy has several basic effects: it brings about deep relaxation, destroys energy blockages, detoxifies the system, provides new vitality in the form of healing life energy, and increases the vibrational frequency of the body.
Reiki can be used for many ailments such as reducing anxiety and stress, relieving pain, headaches, stomach upsets, back problems, respiratory problems, PMT, menstrual problems and sinus problems.
When you receive a Reiki treatment you will lay fully clothed on my very comfy couch. Most clients close their eyes and relax, although others like to talk to me during the session. Generally clients find the Reiki treatment so relaxing that they fall asleep.
Before the Reiki treatment begins I will discuss with you if you would like me to lay my hands on you or just above your body. Most people prefer me to lay my hands on them during their Reiki session, but if you find this too intrusive the Reiki treatment is just as powerful if I keep my hands couple of inches above your body.
If you are having a full Reiki treatment, which I always recommend for your first treatment I will start at your head and work down your body to your feet and then ask you to turn over and I will continue treating you on the back of your head and down your spine.
If you have a particular problem then often two or three shorter but intense Reiki sessions focusing on a particular area of your body will give great results.
So what will you feel during a treatment?
Most clients feel warmth, some have fed back that they feel a pleasant tingling or see colours and occasionally I get clients experiencing a mixture of warmth and coolness. You are unique so what you feel during a session will be unique to you. Everyone I have treated always finds the whole experience relaxing, soothing and ultimately energising.
So what “results” can you expect from a Reiki treatment ?
Reiki clears energetic blockages in the body, one client I treated who had been very stressed for a long time described after her first session that she felt like she had all the negative stuff washed out of her and physically could hear better and colours seemed brighter. Other clients have reported great improvements in their general health and wellbeing.
